The Alleppey leg is always a private houseboat, not a shared one. You get the full boat, a dedicated crew and all meals cooked on board while you cruise the Kuttanad backwaters.
The classic Kerala honeymoon route
Most couples take the hills-first, water-second shape: two nights in Munnar among the tea estates, a night in Thekkady for the spice plantations and Periyar Lake, a night on the Alleppey houseboat, and a final night on the coast at Varkala or Kovalam. Best time for a Kerala honeymoon
October to February is the peak window: dry, clear and comfortable, with seasonal rates from 1 October to 1 January. March to May is warm but excellent for the hills, and Munnar stays pleasant when the coast does not.
